Common Sources of PCR Contamination and Prevention

Contamination control depends on both facility zoning and consistent daily practice.

Pre-PCR and post-PCR activities should be separated where possible. Consumables, protective clothing and tools should be dedicated to their designated areas, and work surfaces should be cleaned according to the laboratory procedure.

Regular training, clear records and timely investigation of abnormal results help maintain a controlled workflow.
